V Premiere
Nov 3 2009, 9:22 PM EST
Anyone else see the premiere?? I thought it was awesome! I had my doubts since the original is near and dear to my heart. I thought Morena Baccarin was amazing as the Visitor leader. I hope they keep this show around for awhile. SPOILER ALERT!: Wow, Alan Tudyk is a bad guy.....again. Funny since he started out as a "good guy" in V and in DH. Do you find this valuable?

It was ridiculously stupid. The dialog was horrible, the characters were stiff, and the plot was so tired (yes, I know it's a remake). When I saw that giant face on the ship's belly screen I almost laughed out loud. The modern-day parallel issues were so weak. I cringed when the reporter said, "Kind of like universal health care?" The whole Peace Ambassador thing made me want to throw up.You enjoyed Morena? She was so unconvincing and the scenes with her were only less painful to watch than the scenes with Juliet's V-loving kid. I liked how they left all the reptile people laying there at the end instead of, you know, making sure they were dead. Especially when the black reptilian guy probably knew that they don't die so easily. The fact that he is a reptile and knew what they were planning makes it all the more stupid that he didn't immediately accept the offer to join the resistance. Anyways, I never saw the 80's show and I don't care enough to look it up on wikipedia, so I can only hope that at the end there is some kind of spiritual and transcendent thing that only humanity has because if this is another case of aliens inventing feasible space travel, picking out a single planet among trillions in the galaxy, and then proceeding to blow that planet to smithereens I'm going to be... well... that's exactly how I expect it to end. Judging from the quality of writing I don't expect them to do anything interesting with this. Do you find this valuable? |

Sorry to hear you didn't like it, Grimmone. You seem to reflect your username. You absolutely have a right to your opinion, but don't need to trash us for liking it (i.e. "You enjoying Morena?"). As far as the "I liked how they left all the reptile people laying there at the end instead of, you know, making sure they were dead." comment...I'm guessing they were leaving quickly in case the Visitors had back-up coming. *shrug*

Sorry... I really disliked the pilot, but I'm just angry over all the talk going on about Dollhouse and the fact that it might be canceled and all the messing around fox is doing to it... and then this dorky show which probably has 10x the budget gets to take a go on a night that people actually are home to watch tv...

They Also Advertised V Like Crazy. I couldn't go on ABC w/o seeing Morena's Face on the Screen, lol.

I thought it was pretty good. The middle was a bit of a lull as it got a mite predictable, but the last 10 minutes were pretty killer.I had the same issues with the V pilot that I had with (and still have) Flashforward. The writers seem to intent on over-explaining everything than thoroughly developing interesting characters (something Lost did backwards and indefinitely benefited from, develop the characters well before explaining... well... anything.) I'll ride out the seasons on both with high hopes. I'm remaining optimistic. Do you find this valuable? |

"The writers seem to intent on over-explaining everything than thoroughly developing interesting characters"Maybe they have no faith in their writing abilities? Dollhouse took a whole season before revealing Alpha, and even then only after first leading us completely astray. V did it before the first episode was over. Do you find this valuable? |

Ugh, I still haven't found the time to watch the pilot. It's on my DVR, though. I've heard mixed reviews and I loved the original, so I'll try to go in with an open mind. Do you find this valuable? |
