There's no place like the Doll-HOUSE

Okay, I admit it. I watched the double episode of House last night. Perhaps not as diligently as I would have a few years ago when I really followed House, but still, I did the dirty deed.

At first I was going to boycott the night entirely, a hollow sort of protest, as I am not a Nielsen member and my "vote" does not count. Then I decided to check out House to see if Fox made any mention of Dollhouse during the commercials. I'm quite certain that I missed a few commercials along the way and my mind was not wholely engrossed in how House managed to lose his rigid, sarcastic armor and become a human being. That being said, I did not find one mention of Dollhouse at any time I was watching.

Did I miss anything?

There are two distinct points during the November sweeps that i would expect to see adverts for DH, if not throughout the month. These are, right at the beginning (did not happen) to remind Dollhouse viewers who did not get the word that DH would be back, and two, during the last episode to drum up some crossover viewership from the House/Bones crowd (however much THAT will be.)

Any bets on seeing a Dollhouse advertisement between now and closing credits December 18?

Aw, it's okay. I watched the ep back when it aired originally, and didn't have much desire to watch it again, even though I love Andre Braugher.

And I really doubt there will be any DH promos anymore. It seems the word is that the show is done, Fox doesn't want to spend any more money on it, just let it burn out for the sake of the fans (who would totally pitch a fit if they pulled it early, and let's face it, we totally would.).

Now, IMO the fact that it is not officially canceled means just that- it isn't canceled! The fat lady has yet to sing! So of course, if the numbers come back the way they have been, yeah, it'll probably be over. But if enough people actually watch, there's a slim chance at maybe 3 more eps or even another season! Sure, it's a tiny chance, but it's still there...

I sincerely hope DH survives sweeps. If FOX didn't learn its lesson after Firefly, then there's no hope for this network. Besides, DH is a specific type of show, geared toward a specific group of fantasy/sci-fi lovers. House isn't, so it makes sense that more viewers would tune in for House (I mean, seriously, how many hospital dramas are out there now? Too many!). But just because DH is for a minority doesn't mean the minority should be ignored by FOX execs. And I hope they actually read the message boards that get posted. AND, DVRs and such DO make a difference in the popularity of shows these days. Not everyone can make it to watch a show on the exact nite its broadcasted. I watch a lot of shows via hulu or the network's site. Why aren't those hits being calculated for the popularity of a show? They can't say advertisement is the issue, cause there's tons of ads on web sites. I think sometimes FOX just likes to make trouble for a show instead of giving their shows their FULL support. It isn't the show's fault if FOX doesn't advertise it properly. This is an edgy show that makes you really think about what is good, what is scientific progress, how valuable is a human being; and in the age we live, those are valid questions. I like how Joss plays with morality, and I think others do too. Do you find this valuable?
