This week's numbers (Ep. 2.03)
Oct 11 2009, 12:34 PM EDT
Well, Dollhouse pulled out of its tailspin towards oblivion, but it still is flying kinda' low. 2.25 million live viewers (1.0/3, ratings share 18-49) watched, and that basically meant it kept the Brothers/Til Death crowd (or attracted enough replacements to virtually equal their viewership.) It was about as much as I hoped for, since I didn't see 2.5 or 2.6 as realistic after last week. Without stronger lead-ins, we will be hard pressed to rise to that point this season. I just hope that Fox understands this as well (and gives a darn--there still is that lingering worry that the Fox exec's have decided to allow their own lack of support to apply the coup de grace through attrition of numbers.) Those executives are clearly divided in their focus on Friday nights. Do they want edgy SciFi drama, or comedy? Pairing the two--other than inside the drama, ala Joss--is not the best move.Typically, Joss and Eliza are mum on the issue, as they do not wish to bite the hand that feeds them, at least until it sends them to the pound for euthanasia. Here's hoping that 2.25 is enough for now. If by some miracle Dollhouse actually begins to outperform its lead-in shows, there will be no cover for a Fox cancellation. They certainly can't say they did Dollhouse any favors! So, once again, I bring a little sunlight to the general gloom. I have high hopes that Dollhouse will actually make to Summer Glau (Episode 2.05.) She just might push the show past the Bro/Til lead-in numbers and turn up the burners under Fox to acknowledge what we here already know: Dollhouse may not appeal to everyone, but it has a loyal following and can attract new viewers if given a chance. Thanks for posting the numbers. I was curious about how the show did on Friday. Glad it did better. I agree with you, the Friday night pairing is just very odd and mismatched. Like FOX just has these left over shows it doesn't know what to do with so it just threw them together. I really enjoyed the Summer Glau commercial after the episode, though. That's the kind of commercial they should be playing during the week or as a commercial in their video player. I remember FOX bombarded their episode players with Glee ads in the spring. Why not push this show just a fraction of that?

"Also, looks like the DVR numbers from the premiere are in and it made a staggering 50% gain (only bumping it up to 1.5 but still, biggest DVR increase for the series.) http://www.thrfeed.com/2009/10/dollhouse-shows-enormous-dvr-gains.html Do you find this valuable? |

If Fox is serious about giving DH a fighting chance it should move it to Thursdays (right after Fringe).I know plenty of people who watch Fringe that had not even heard of DH when I asked them. Do you find this valuable? |
