What are your ratings predictions for season two?
Jun 21 2009, 1:20 PM EDT
Will things improve now that the show has been renewed? I know some people were hesitant to watch the first season because they thought it would get axed. Predictions? 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

I think we have as a fanbase can't be lazy about this. We need to publicise the show as much as possible on Facebook, twitter, and Myspace, lend out our boxsets etc. This is after all a second chance and a last-dash reprive. Unless the show gets signifcant ratings increase, I can't see FOX doing anything else other than cancelling it.And if people are fair about it (which the fanbase in all its fevour frequently isn't), they can't be blamed. The fans need to make an effort. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

We can certainly try, but I highly, and let me stress HIGHLY, doubt the Nielsen ratings are going to improve. However, online viewing, DVR, and all of those nifty little things will improve. How much is still undetermined, but they will probably improve, since as more people get interested in the series, most of these people have better things to do on a Friday night (I don't, but the majority of people do, sadly).

Dollhouse is always going to be a niche show. That isn't a reflection on the show quality, but simply because it isn't mainstream (as compared to say Fringe which I don't like, but is nothing more than a dressed up police procedural). If it wasn't on Friday its viewing figures might be up some, but not enough to justify its existence on another night. Do you find this valuable? |

How high Dollhouse rises--I'm not prepared to predict. I will say that we will never achieve the ratings of the brain-dead shows that took most of the limited Friday night audience last season. What we have to do is find a way to bring some new viewers to Friday night who would otherwise not watch television at all. The suggestions I've seen previously for Season One are still very good ways to go. My hope for Whedon Central is that Joss comes up with some brilliant ideas for publicity. Something striking in a viral form, perhaps. An insidious worm that works its way into the brains of intelligent, but uncommitted, potential viewers. Since the emphasis this next year will be to make the show on a smaller budget, it will need to be an Internet-based campaign that would hopefully take on a life of its own, thereby reaching those who've never watched much Whedon fare before. When people say, "You've GOT to check this out," and not even mention Joss Whedon, let alone Dollhouse, then we might have a campaign that will add significant viewership to our totals. So, I won't make an exact prediction here, but I'd be happy with anything above 2.5 and 5 million. That should keep a reduced-budget Dollhouse around for more seasons. Do you find this valuable? |

Season 1 currently has 4.5 Million (Thanks to Australia and The UK!) so hopefully S2 will be more!

My ratings predictions for season 2 is that they will be really, really low, just as they were so far or even worse. The good news is they just don't care about it and will for sure keep the show on the air until it ends it's run. Joss said so about the ratings and the show will be indeed very cheap, so no harm to them. God, I wish every show I like could have this kind of philosophy, specially TSCC. *sigh* Do you find this valuable? |

"hopefully reveal the corporation at little bit more during season two, and explain the relationship between topher and whiskey's true identity. As for the ratings, we can get our friends hooked on the show. But a bigger threat emerges as some of the fans of the now canceled Terminator show is extremely upset that Dollhouse got renewed and their show did not. Some angry fans there on the terminator wiki, well the last time I checked."How exactly are the angry fans at terminator wiki a threat? Most of them never watched Dollhouse (at least not on a regular basis) and never will. They can't bring the ratings down any lower than they already are. Much of the rage at the TSCC wiki is long gone by now. There are still one or two members who still rehash some "hate" threads about Summer on Dollhouse and such, but nothing much any more. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

I predict it's going to be the same, with its DVR numbers pulling it a little bit higher. It's still in the Friday night slot, after all. I do wish that the ratings won't dip too low, and that the show maintains decent numbers (in proportion to their budget-- that's how the companies decide on this, right? I don't really get how they gauge the sellability of a show in the US, I'm just basing what I know from how they taught us in my broadcasting subjects, lulz) Do you find this valuable? |

To add to Steverg's reply, it could be too soon to predict. What we are seeing now is a surge, no doubt due to Comic-Con, Euro getting DH, and the videos arriving. We may see a lull before the Season 2 premiere. But, the show took root. If ratings remain low we'll still see people finding a way to watch through time shifting. I just don't believe they'll be that low again no matter what night. Fox may be stubborn with this, wanting to build a Friday night viewership. The shows attracts on average a young demographic. And that audience looks like it has other things to do on Friday nights. As far as T:SSC it was unfortunate. Fox made a decision. It's over and done with. Every show has it's rabid obsessed fans that don't take well to their show leaving the airwaves. From what I observe there are those that don't get Dollhouse. I have a friend who is happy to know he never watched an episode. Predictions as far as the direction of Dollhouse...it looks like we may see more of the future? Ok, if Paul becomes Echo's handler, what of Madeline. Will Paul get inquisitive on the inside and investigate the attic? Find Dominic? Who is on the inside corrupting the implants to send messages? Paul was told the Dollhouses had a purpose. He's too thorough to let it slide. I do wonder why the scars Alpha leaves can't be repaired better. Will Alpha decide another direction? Rossum is the key, they hold the answers to the purpose of the Dollhouses. We already saw a possible future they hold. If anyone can pull off a show with a reduced budget, it's Joss Whedon. I found the changes made between the actual season and the pilot to be fascinating. And if we are to see more of this future wonder if Caroline will find Caroline. And see how Rossum screws up everything in their quest for dominance, using politics and tech. It's enough to hold and increase interest and viewership. Do you find this valuable? |

"How exactly are the angry fans at terminator wiki a threat? Most of them never watched Dollhouse (at least not on a regular basis) and never will. They can't bring the ratings down any lower than they already are.I think it's two completely different cases:- 1. On the weeks that TSCC and DH were programmed together,TSCC got lower ratings. 2. FOX earn money from DH DVD sales, they don't get money from TSCC DVDs. 3. TSCC had had two chances to gain an audience. DH has only had one. 4. WB gave FOX the second season at a substanial subsidy in the hope it would help advertise the film. No subisdy for a third year. If either show was going to be kept, it was always DH. I'm just surprised but pleased they kept DH. If TSCC fans can't come to terms with that, shrug. Do you find this valuable? |

Well with a lack of any competition, and that the universe will become completely depend on it to survive that we will slowly at first and then accelerate in number over the season.

"Well with a lack of any competition"Err, lack of competition? Medium and Ugly Betty are quite a bit of competition. Then there's Southland. Our lead-in will do anything but help too. So I'm wary of making any kind of predictions... Do you find this valuable? |

i believe that josh whedon must realise that he has a very good show. dollhouse has an amazing storyline and plot i believe that his funs are pleased from him so he must stop trying to win them they are already watching him. so bringing back for guests stars from his previews shows is'nt going to help making more the numbers.Dollhouse plays on friday and people on friday aren't in a mood like let's stay in and watch tv so the episodes can not be like one engagement per episode every episode must close in such way that would make viewers to wait until friday to see what happens next. the show makes good numbers on dvr because people are not anxious to seee what will happenen they say we can see it tomorrow so josh must make them want to say i want to see now what will happen Do you find this valuable? |

I hate to see that 'ratings' decides which show is worth of watching. There are so many fans of this show in other countries. I think that season 2 would be great.

Predictions?Well, there seems to be a lot of chatter about Dollhouse since the surprise renew. The fact that the dvds were released, some people didn't know what the show was so it brought at least some attention to it. I'm hopeful for a series high during the premiere. They need to show more stuff in the previews, i had a friend not watch dollhouse since all she remembers was some girl walking around like she was perfect all in a sexy manner. Like C'mon, that's all that caught her attention? Initially I found out the show way before it was aired from the fact I was wiki'ing about Buffy cast members and wanted to see what they were up to. I watched the show, I liked the concept and knew Joss could run with it once he hits his stride. I'm hopeful it's gonna be like Buffy, where the ratings finally inflate. Joss starts his shows slowly then it gets good. I think word of mouth is what's gonna breathe life to the show. Once the show starts moving the dollhouse gears people will tell other people how good it is. :D .......at least I hope. Do you find this valuable? |
