The Target parallels

I decided to make the parallels to The Target episode when other members expressed some er, icky factors with it. I personally don't have any icky factors with it so who better to do it but someone that doesn't? Needs is fascinating. It may not have hit the nail exactly on the head thinking of T3 and a Planet of the Apes sequel. But I saw some parallels with them to the episode. There is plenty of room on there to other parallels of the Dollhouse...

Aside from a rather creepy resemblance to the Most Dangerous Game, I didn't really have an ick factor with the Target. I just found it really.... almost boring, actually. Since we knew Echo would come out OK, and I was pretty confident Boyd would too.

For me it was the same as far as how the story will end. It was the Whedon twists to it I enjoyed. And it helped stretch my memory of where it originated. I remembered reading the short story. But couldn't remember who wrote it. The Hirogen episodes on Voyager were a couple of my favorites on there because well, it was chaotic lol Do you find this valuable? |

I know, kinda weird... I'm probably going to end up watching Target again this week, to see all that I didn't catch the first time because 1) I hadn't quite figured out the premise of the show yet and 2) She! Can't! Die! I guess what really bothered me about the episode is that she was acting like an *idiot*! I felt like I was watching a horror movie. "Don't just drink the water! Why are you still carrying that walkie-talkie? What kind of idiot goes back to the boat that the GUY WHO'S HUNTING YOU left at the river?" were the kinds of things I was yelling at the screen. If I want to watch tv that irritates me that much, I'll watch the hockey game.

Everything she did seemed taken from the "do not do this when you are in a horror film" page. The water was incredibly dumb. Still, there were some reveals along the way that I loved. And like most shows, the rough patch is over and we've found the real meat, so I don't dwell that much on the early episodes. Do you find this valuable? |

And the episode is well worth watching again, just to see the kind of information that was planted for us to notice in retrospect. Do you find this valuable? |

Aside from those two eps. and ahte various ones they also encountered them, The 2 part finale was great. My favorite was DS9 but I watched both. Janeway and the fact her crew had to bond to survive was an incredible story. Do you find this valuable? |

As far as The Target, I keep in mind she was imprinted to please Richard and found herself on the run from him. If i place myself in that situation, imprinted to to be a companion for a woman on an outdoor excursion, just had sex with her, and then she picks up a bow loaded and gave me 5 minutes to run, I'd probably be confused enough in my head to do a number of boo boos. Being really thirsty I'd take a rink in that confused state, not even thinking about someone tainting it. There would be desperation moves and would be worse after being drugged AND imprinted and on the run for my life. And...to me the funny thing here is....I did the parallels just to do it, was fun. I thought I was leaving notes in that section and found it also is sent into the discussion board lol...but all is good. We all have our thoughts on the different eps. and it's what makes the wiki interesting. It would be really really boring here if we all thought alike on everything. Do you find this valuable? |

"Yes, I end up watching them over, always catching something new. "Haha, you too, huh? Even the "weak" early episodes have little things I catch... like in "Stage Fright", with the line about how Echo feels she has to "save her", we're sort of led to think she's talking about Rayna, aka the woman she's *supposed* to protect... but when she actually says it, on the second viewing I noticed, she's looking at the picture of Sierra! :) Do you find this valuable? |

I mean, how the hell was she supposed to know he'd drugged it, exactly? It was a frickin ranger's station! She was going for help, she didn't expect it to be a trap... I don't think in her state or even just her situation, I would have done any differently. With all that running, and with her obviously having sweat a lot (you can SEE the sweat all over her for goodness sakes!), staying hydrated would be important in order to keep from passing out or overheating. Maybe I (and the friend I showed the episode to) just didn't think it was weird because we live in heat-and-humidity-drenched Florida, so we're used to taking such precautions when it comes to being outside and sweating, even when we're NOT running for our lives. :P And to be frank, canteen water would be cleaner and safer than river water, as well, she wouldn't be so far out into the open. All things considered, it was perfectly logical. Do you find this valuable? |
