Put aside any bias and make a prediction. What kind of ratings will the first few episodes have? 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

tough one, it really depends on the marketing and the slot. it could also be interesting to predict the bubble level, the rating which could be the mark between "in danger" or "doing well". my guess is: 3 Million 18-49 viewers. if Dollhouse averages above, it should be okay. looking at Fringe my guess for the pilot is anything between 4 and 5 million 18-49 viewers.

Don't really know much about ratings, but I have a strong hunch that Dollhouse will not start off as strongly as I hope, but will get better around episode six or seven. Everyshow I have watched for the first time on DVD, even Joss shows got me hooked after the 5th episode when I got used to the characters and the actors, and started getting interested in the story.
I do hope Fox gives it a chance to grow and become explosive fun.

I'm hoping a good 7-8 Million viewers(even though that's disappointing for a such hyped about show) I think we'll hover around a high 2.8 or 2.9 in the 18-49 Demo, maybe even 2.5. I'm talking about when the show stabilizes. It could be 10 Million+ Viewers for the first week but lose steam as the weeks go by.

I think Dollhouse appeals to a very narrow audience but I think if any Battlestar Galactica, Eureka, etc.(aka Sci-Fi fans) that no nothing about Joss Whedon's previous projects might attach to this series. I think it's too soon to guess, it all depends on the lead in(if one) and the promotion. I think FOX will do a very good job of promoting Dollhouse, but very few viewers will translate. This is just my prediction, not my hope. I hope this series is huge!

I agree, I think it will get off to a slow start.

It depends on where and when it will debut. If it is premiered after American Idol I would predict the first ratings to be above 17 million. There are a lot of young and varied viewers that watch American Idol and this show has the potential to be appealing to that audience. Of course it would also depend on the first show and how much it grabs the audiences attention.. The first 5-10 minutes are crucial in keeping the massive AI viewers from switching the channel. Hopefully it will start with some mystery, intrigue or action and not start with the focus on a villain or boring but important facts for the show (that stuff can come after they have captured the audiences attention). I've seen some new shows make the horrible mistake of not properly utilizing the first 5-10 minutes of a show and as a result viewers switch channels and lose interest.

Until the viewers at least have a chance to get acquainted with the characters and plot I hope the writers pay close attention to how the scripts begin -No boring opening scenes and no ugly crappy villain opening scenes (Lets face it, Opening to ugly is a turn off no matter how good the plot).

If this show premiers without a lead in then they are just being stupid! I hope they give the show a chance.

That would be awesome if it premiered after AI. I think that would help it out a lot! Do you find this valuable?

Aw, don't be so cynical! This is the age of TiVO, after all. Even if people are out on Friday night, they can still watch it. I'm still hopeful!

Maybe, since the show is having more air-time like Fringe, with the shorter commercials it will benefit more than we think. I don't know..the network really isn't being fair. Im surprised with the success of Buffy and Angel they would just throw this in a Friday, 9 0'clock time slot! dumb. But maybe a show put in a better time slot will completely bomb, and they'll move Dollhouse earlier in the week. We just have to keep it above water till that happens....lets cross our fingers guys. We just have to tell EVERYONE we know to sit and watch it.

What else is usually on during Friday nights? Is that like a Law & Order-type night? Do you find this valuable?

i think Dollhouse will compete against NCIS repeats and Crusoe (altough i Don't know if Crusoe will maybe finish it's run even before Dollhouse starts...)

To think i tried so hard to surpress my dislike for Fox. I swear it's like they want to be hated! Still i refuse to get into a doom and gloom mindset. I am going to assume the show will be fine (maybe it's optimism maybe its denial...more likely its the unhealthy amount of caffine in my system) Do you find this valuable?

The show is awesome and will do fine, if FOX will let some bad ratings slide for the first few weeks. The show got a poor time slot being aired during Battlestar Galactica, which others before have probably mentioned. After two episodes, I'm impressed, but not yet hooked. I do like the used of Tahmoh Penniket. This show should be great if Joss has anything to do about it. Just beg FOX to wait.

Here's a prediction...starting tonight, there will be a small but definite increase in viewership. I hope that viewership will grow and grow, but for now there is one factor that will affect ratings: The hit series Monk, on USA is going into reruns. I always watch Monk, but being on the West coast, I can do it at 6:00pm and never miss Dollhouse. While there may not be a huge bleed-over to Dollhouse, Monk viewship likes off-beat programming and Dollhouse is enough that way (though definitely flashier) to catch their attention. That's all for now... Do you find this valuable?
